Dental Implants

Implant Dentistry in McDonough and South Atlanta

Implant dentist Dr. Gary Bartholomew provides dental implant services for our patients in our McDonough dental office. In addition to over 20 years' experience in dental implant surgery, Dr. Bartholomew has completed advanced training in dental bone grafting and augmentation procedures for implant integration and retention.

Both Dr. Gary Bartholomew and Dr. Alex Bartholomew restore dental implants to replace the lost function of missing teeth with implant crowns, bridges and dentures.

Am I a Candidate for a Dental Implant?

If you are struggling with missing teeth, you should consider dental implants. These small titanium screw-shaped prosthetics act as structural replacements for the roots of lost teeth to create a foundation for a dental crown or bridge, or, to stabilize partial and complete dentures.

Dental implants have been in use for over fifty years. Today's dental implants are usually made of titanium, which interacts with natural jaw bone to form a bond as the implant site heals.

The biological relationship that the body has with a dental implant also helps to preserve existing natural jaw bone. In contrast, due to lack of this type of interaction, bone loss is a normal anticipated side effect of tooth replacement with a traditional dental bridge, partial denture or complete denture.

Dental Implant Solutions

Single Tooth Replacement with a Dental Implant Crown

Dental Implants are generally the preferred approach to replace a single missing tooth rather than a traditional dental bridge, which involves drilling on the adjacent teeth for support.

A single tooth implant can be restored with a dental crown designed to match your smile. Your new dental implant restoration will look and function much like your natural teeth, so you won't have to hide your smile in embarrassment anymore!

Replacement of Multiple Teeth using Dental Implants

Dental Implants may also be used to replace multiple teeth by providing a foundation for a fixed bridge or an implant supported denture. Dr. Gary Bartholomew provides all-on-four dental implant procedures. Using four or more dental implants, he will design a denture with special attachments to lock your denture securely in place.

Patients often comment about the difference in their quality of life with implant dentures. The ability to chew food and speak normally with the added stability provided by dental implants is a welcome relief for a denture wearer.

Sedation Options Available

Many of our dental implant patients with complex restorative needs schedule longer appointments to complete the majority of their treatment in a single visit. We also have Dental Sedation options available for patient comfort.

3D Technology

Your Dental Implant Consultation

Dr. Gary Bartholomew will utilize diagnostic radiography to evaluate the implant site during your dental implant consultation. Using imaging software and visual rendering tools, he is able to view a 3D representation of your jaw structures to assess existing bone levels prior to your procedure.

Dental Implant Placement

The depth of information available with 3D diagnostics also offers Dr. Bartholomew the option of using CAD/CAM technology to create a surgical guide for the dental implant procedure. Guided implant surgery is used in pinpointing implant locations with proper jaw bone levels for implant placement. Choosing a location with healthy jaw bone aids in implant integration during the healing process.

A True Smile Solution

The possibilities that exist today to rebuild smiles with dental implants are virtually unlimited. If you have one or more missing teeth or are tired of loose dentures, dental implants may be the answer you have been waiting for!
